This 7" appears in its entirety on The StunGuns Discography LP released in 2004 by ShutUpRecords.
I was in Atlanta talking to Mari on the phone when the subject of a StunGuns 7" came up. The tracks had already been recorded and Mari loved them. I told Mari I needed to hear the recording before agreeing to release it. I had an abstract view of The StunGuns. First off, shows at Churchill's were abstract. Flyers were passed around with band names, but chances weren't very good that all the bands mentioned would end up laying. There was always somebody else's band that wanted to play too. Plus it seemed as if everybody played in multiple bands. I swear there were nights when Andrew or Buddha would play in 6 bands. Although the abundance of alcohol and drugs helped, I had a tough time keeping track of which band was which. So, anywyas, I told Mari probably yes, but I couldn't say definitely til I got back to Miami. When I did hear the recording I was in as much awe as Mari had been. This was great Rock N Roll.
Now, sometimes in life, it's necessary to discuss embarassments. So, about the covers, I blame ChuckLoose. The image of the dead mafia guy was picked by The StunGuns from a book of gangster photos. ChuckLoose had been working at a print shop for a while and was starting to do some layout and design. He offered to get the cover layed out and sent off to Walt at Imprint. The cartoony layout doesn't go with the image or the music, and goddam that ugly red & blue color choice. That was a mistake to learn from (know what the hell the finished product will look like before printing).
Two weeks after getting the final version of the 7" together, a Chicago band released their debut 7" with the exact same fucking image on the front cover, except the colors looked good. Their name, The Hitmen, replaced The StunGuns logo on the front cover and was eerily similiar to track 1 on the B-side, Hitman. Their record in no way rocked as much and cheapened the existence of "I Can't Belieive It's Not Murder."
GeorgeKelly paid for the recording and half the pressing costs. It had been planned to get the record out before The StunGuns started a 2 month cross country tour. The records were pressed at Alpha Records in Broward County with the idea that using a local place would hasten the process. So, the first pressing was missing a track. The second pressing had all three tracks, but the levels dropped to about half volume midsong. Third times the charm, and we sent records to California I believe to meet up with the touring StunGuns. So, there are versions of the 7" with B&W photocopied covers that may be missing a track or jsut fucked up.
